100 Days of Watercolor Moments

Create Share Love | #the100dayproject 2018

On a whim I decided to participate in #the100DayProject. For this project you pick one creative thing you want to do for 100 days. It officially starts on April 3rd and goes until July 11th. In the past three years I followed along a few people on Instagram but never got inspired enough to join in as well. 100 days are intimdating and I didn't plan to add something new to my already full plate.

But then I saw the book "Everyday Watercolor: Learn to Paint Watercolor in 30 Days" by Jenna Rainey in our local book store and I immediately knew this would be a perfect jumping off point. I always loved watercolors and even have almost all of the supplies at home. A few years ago I painted regularly with watercolors and took some classes but with so many other projects going on, I put it on the side. As part of my One Little Word® WILD, I want to improve my skills and learn something new this year. I want to get better at things so this book and this project are perfect for this.

My plan for this project is to spend 15 minutes each day working on the book. Some days I will read a chapter, some days I will take some notes (there is a great introduction about color theory where I can learn a ton) and some days I will paint. In the end I hope to have #100watercolormoments. Moments where I learned something new, improved my skills and also spent time doing something with my own two hands.

I bought the book, a small paper pad and one large brush, everything else could be found in my stash. I set up my workspace with all the supplies I need for my paintings. And now I am ready, waiting for tomorrow to finally start making. I am not sure yet how many times I will share an updated on my Instagram account or here on the blog. We will see how this will take shape in the next few weeks.
