This year was my third time documenting a Week in the life™. Week in the Life™ is about taking lots of photos during one whole week and collecting all the things you do. I really really like this project and highly recommend doing it once a year. Yes, it takes some time but it's so great to look back through those albums and see how our lives changed and also stayed the same.
The official week was a little bit earlier. But because I really wanted to capture a super ordinary week, I decided to document my week from Monday, May 30th to Sunday, June 5th.
The difference between Day in the Life™ and Week in the life™ is to me, that with Day in the life™ I primarily want to know what happens exactly when (focus on time) and with Week in the life™ I want to know more what happens why (focus on story).
During the actual week I took all my photos with my iPhone 5s and my Camera (Nikon Coolpix P7000). At the end of the day I uploaded the photos to my computer, edited them with rad lab for Photoshop Elements and wrote something about each photo in a simple text document. I decided to edit them on a daily basis to avoid the time consuming task of editing 120 photos at the end of the week. This way I had to edit between 20 and 26 photos each day which was totally manageable.
My process was very similar to last year. I also created a plan before I started to work on the album. I like to know what comes where in my album and which photos I have to print in which size. Last year I printed all of my photos first and then worked on each day. This time I decided to print the photos for one day and then directly afterwards work on the pages for my album for that day. The reason behind this is simple. I just didn't want to spend one long time period on printing the photos. To break it apart helped me to stay sane and not getting bored even before I started working on my album.
For my title page I enlarged a photo of us and added some embellishments from the Week in the life™ and Day in the life™ kit on top of it. The black and white circle is actually from the packaging.
I ordered the Week in the life™ kit with the "Stories" album. But decided to use a thinner album (like in the past two years) for this project again.
For my label I used some number stamps from Studio Calico (not available anymore) and added the words "week in the life" with a pen.
During the next seven days I will share my completed album with you. Tomorrow starts with Monday.
You can find my other completed days here: Monday // Tuesday // Wednesday // Thursday // Friday // Saturday // Sunday
