When we moved to our new home we first set up the living and dining room, the kitchen and bathroom. Those are the most important areas to make us feel at home. Right after came my craft room.
My new craft room is totally different from the last one. Now I have a whole room to myself and different furniture. The table was our dining table, the kitchen island stood in our kitchen and I bought an IVAR shelf (they are just the best) and a chair. Unlike before I don't keep my computer or any other documents in this room. This room is just a craft space.
I have two work areas. A kitchen island where I work on paper projects and a table for my sewing projects. The shelf represents those parts as well. Supplies for paper projects on the right and supplies for sewing or knitting projects on the left.
Because I have different furniture it wasn't that easy to set up my space. I had to start from scratch and think about where to put what. To simplify the process I lay all things in front of me that everything was visible and I didn't forget something.
To add a bigger work surface was definitely a good idea. I like to have more space while working on paper projects.
I collected several art pieces over the past few years and it wasn't that easy to pick the ones I wanted to hang on my wall. This collection includes art from Life Love Paper, Ali Makes Things, EliseJoy, Kal Barteski and Crystal Moody.
And my sewing space. I like that I can leave my sewing machine on the table and also have enough space to work on bigger projects like this quilt. I plan to hang a peg board above the table for my sewing supplies and still need some sort of storage (open shelving or drawers).
I like that there are two windows and everything is very bright. I like that I can work from both sides on my kitchen island and that I have the light in front of me. The view is also really awesome.

It is very important to me, that my workspace is a place where I like to be and that inspires me. Light is important as well. Not only for working there but also to take photos of my projects I'm working on or the room itself. I need space to lay out my stuff while working on a project. I usually don't listen to music or anything else. I like the quiet in there. And then I also need inspiring art on the wall and plants to cheer up the whole space.
So, tell me or show me more about your space. I'd love to see where you create.
