In the last few months I didn't read many books. Primarily because it took me relatively long to finish Packing Light by Allison Vesterfelt. Not because it was boring but this was a book I just couldn't read through very fast. There are many sections I underlined, words I wanted to keep. This book is full of wisdom and great paragraphs. I really loved reading it. There are parts which were a little bit too much about religion and God for my taste but the overall book was very good.
Allison and her friend Sharaya made a trip to all fifty states and kept a blog. They even had a kickstarter campaign to support them. You can still watch their video. I didn't find their blog though (which would have been fun).
A few favorite quotes from the book:
" Life is made up of moments, of tiny, little decisions that take us one direction or another. "
" Embrace the unexpected, even if you're not sure hot it will turn out. "
" And putting it into words like that made me reckless because it made it real. "
" You don't realize how much junk you have until you try to put it all in a box. "
My favorite book I read is Mr. Penumbras 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. Such a good but also special book. It's about books and a book store but in a totally different way you would expect it. It's about old books and about Google. It's a love story but also not. It's about friendship. I highly recommend it
The third one I read is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. There was (or still is?) a hype about that book. I saw it many many times popping up in my IG-feed and in other places. My opinion: It was okay. Nothing that special. It's about two sixteen-year-olds who fall in love with each other. It was a quick read. What I really liked was that the story wasn't told from one view. It jumps back and forth between Eleanor's view and Park's view.
I'm currently reading The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. I'm about 80 pages in and love it. What about you? What are you reading? Any books you recommend?
