Today I'm going to share a step-by-step tutorial of an art journal page I recently made.
Art journaling is something you don't need to have fancy supplies for. You can create an art journal page out of almost everything. You can keep it simple or you can go extremely busy and you can use whatever you like, there are no rulse.
For my tutorial I only used supplies most people alredy have at home. I recommend to read through the whole tutorial before you get started and afterwards, grab some supplies, create something and share your page(s).
Supplies you need
- a piece of paper you can use as your base (I use an 8x8 inches piece of white paper)
- a black/white photostrip or 4 small photos of yourself. (I made this photostrip in Photoshop Elements)
- a few smaller strips of cardstock, just make sure they're a little bit longer than your piece of paper you use as a base
- a piece of vellum, a little bit longer than your base
- journaling pens
- two different brushes
- watercolors (or whatever you have on hand)
Step one: Take your paperstrips and create at least 5 different patterns with your watercolors. I only used black and yellow for my pages. But you can use any color you want.
Step two: Write down the senctence "what I feel" on a piece of paper. We're going to cut it out later, so you can use your whole page for practise.
Step three: This isn't an actual step, but this is my collection of different patterns I made and the sentence I wrote.
Step four: Tear your paper strips into smaller strips. These strips don't have to be perfect.
Step five: Glue down those strips onto your base...
Step six: ...until everything is covered.
Step seven: Turn the paper and trim any excess with your scissors.
step eight: Grab your vellum and two different journal pens and write down every word that describes what you feel right now. I alternated between the thicker and thinner pen. Fill the whole strip of vellum with words. I repeated the words from time to time.
Step nine: Now tear your vellum into a thick strip. Mine is around 2 inches wide.
Step ten: Cut out your sentence.
Step eleven: Put everything together. I glued down the vellum strip on the left side, added my photostrip and on top of everything came my sentence.
Step twelve: Enjoy and share your pages!
